Chef Bret Jennings will be cooking up a storm at the first annual Chef’s Throwdown on Saturday February 25th at The Carolina Inn. Shrimp & Grits is the featured ingredient and you can watch, taste and cast your vote for the winner. All proceeds from the event will benefit TABLE, a great charity focused on serving local children at risk for hunger.

Glenwood Night Feb 7th

Tomato Plate and Soft Shells Are Back!

Tomato plate time! Right now, we’re slicing the Cherokee Purples, Kellogg’s Breakfast (yellow) and my new favorite, Cherokee Greens (ripe green). We’ve paired these with some marinated sungold cherry tomatoes, fried green tomatoes, some Millarckee Farms’ arugula and a drizzle of Celebrity Dairy goat cheese with aged balsamic and extra virgin olive oil.

Elaine’s has been lucky enough to deal with Alex and Betsy Hitt for years, which must help us with our corner of their tomato market because there’s just not enough to go around! Who knows how long we’ll keep our share in order to serve the sampler, but looks like the season is going well.

Soft Shell Crabs are also back for a limited time! We’ve got a new menu item in their honor:

elaine’s tempura fresh n.c. softshell crab on asian slaw w/ baby local mustard greens & wasabi mayo

Elaine’s Restaurant Week Starts June 7

It’s once again time for Restaurant Week at Elaine’s! Next week, from Tuesday, June 7 through Thursday June 9, Elaine’s will be offering a special $35 prix fixe menu all night long. This special includes all of the items on the dinner and dessert menus. That’s right. Choose an appetizer, choose an entrée, choose a dessert. $35.
